Come enjoy the culture, excitement and amenities that you would find in much larger cities without the congestion and overcrowding.  The Triangle has an overabundance of universities, museums, and civic groups, which help to make this area such a vibrant place to live.

Orange County is largely made up of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough.  In Chapel Hill you can go see a star show at Morehead Planetarium or visit the NC Botaincal Garden, the largest natural botanical garden in the Southeast.  Chapel Hill also has the oldest state supported university in the United States, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Stroll the historic campus or attend one of the University's nationally acclaimed sports events.  Carrboro is a small town, but with much to offer.  During the cooler days of springs and fall you can fins people on the lawn of our local food co-op and Farmer's Market.  Year round, people from all over the Triangle take art classes at the Arts Center or catch a show at the renowned Cat's Cradle.  With the charm of a small southern town, Hillsborough is rich in history.  People come to dine and shop in historic downtown or to see the Montrose Gardens or the Poet's Walk.  There is always something to do in this vibrant town.

Aside from UNC, Chapel Hill and Carrboro are known for the quality of its public school system.  Hillsborough and other Orange County towns encompass their own school system.

Durham is the fifth largest city in the state by population and is home to both Duke University and North Carolina Central University.  Durham's most famous professional sports team is the Durham Bulls, which gained fame through the 1998 movies Bull Durham.  Durham also has the beautiful Sarah P. Duke Gardens, which is often called the "Crown jewels of Duke University".  There is also the Museum of Life and Science, which is fun for all ages.  Durham has also just built the Durham Performing Arts Center, which will host broadway plays, comedians, concerts, and more!

Wake County is consistently rated as one of the best places to live and work in America!  It is home to NC State University as well as the Carolina Hurricanes, 2006 Stanley Cup Champions.  Wake County school district was also voted #1 in the nation for certified teachers in 2007.  Wake County is the largest in the Triangle and has something for everybody.  There are several museums, including the North Carolina Museum of Art or the North Carolina Museum of Natural History.  Raleigh boasts the nationally acclaimed Carolina Ballet, the NC Symphony, Broadway South Series of plays and musicals as well as several venues for watching internationally celebrated musical artists perform.

Cary is another thriving community in Wake County. Although schools are not a Town government responsibility in North Carolina, Cary leaders have responded to public interest in schools by making education a priority.  There is so much to do in the growing town, such as going to the Koka Booth Amphitheater for fun festivals or to see musical artists perform.  For over 30 years Cary has hosted the Lazy Days Arts & Crafts Festival.  There is also terrific golfing and dining at Prestonwood Country Club.

Aside from these two cities, Wake County is comprised of smaller towns such as Apex, Wake Forest, Fuquay Varina, and Holly Springs.

Pittsboro is the heart of Chatham County, one of the fastest growing counties in the state.  While Chatham County has a strong agricultural economy that is partly due to a growing number of small sustainable farms focused on specialty needs as well as a continuing strength in cattle production, there is also much more development taking place.  Pittsboro has a booming artistic community with events such as the Art Walk Festival.  For more information on Chatham County schools, click here.
